Grower Affairs


Rusty Wiygul

Rusty Wiygul is the Director of Grower Affairs. He is responsible for the supervision of the field representative positions. He represents Mutual in meetings of other associations as well as government agencies, and reports back on issues that need to be addressed. Rusty is also responsible for the initial preparation for Mutual’s area meetings, annual elections and freeze watch program.

Rusty covers the following Florida counties: Citrus, Sumter, Marion, Lake, Volusia, Seminole, Orange, Osceola, Okeechobee, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, Palm Beach and Broward.

Laurie Hurner

Laurie Hurner is the Assistant Director of Grower Affairs. She is directly responsible for maintaining and enhancing the association’s relationship with growers in Highlands, Okeechobee, Glades, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties. Laurie is also in charge of coordinating the Florida Citrus Industry Annual Conference each year.

Laurie is a graduate of Florida Southern College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business/Citrus and has a Master’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Florida.

John Baxter

John Baxter is a Field Representative for Florida Citrus Mutual. He is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the association’s relationship with growers in Southwest Florida including Sarasota, Manatee, Hardee, DeSoto, Charlotte, Lee, Collier and Hendry counties. John also represents the association with the Southwest Florida Water Management District.

Prior to joining Mutual in 2007 John spent 12 years in the citrus industry from facility operations to grove management.
