California battles Citrus Greening Disease

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — California is losing the battle against a pest threatening the state’s 2-billion dollar citrus industry. State ag officials say they’re struggling to kill off the bug that carries the fatal citrus disease.
Ag officials say the fight against the pest has intensified this month because the insect population in Southern California is exploding. Officials are treating citrus trees with pesticides. but they say it’s getting too expensive and difficult.
Right now ag officials are working to find a high-tech science solution to wipe-out the bug.
