Lakeland Ledger – April 30, 2011
U.S. Department of Agriculture officials are in Florida publicizing a new program to address discrimination claims by women and Hispanic farmers.
Deputy Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Fred Pfaeffle spoke Friday with farmers in south Miami-Dade County about the program.
Under the program, anyone who can bring evidence of discrimination from between 1986 and 2000 could be eligible for up to $50,000 in cash, plus some debt and tax relief. Those interested in submitting a claim can call: 1-888-508-4429.
