Committee postpones vote on statewide fertilizer bill

The measure by Sen. Greg Evers, R-Baker, instead would impose a statewide standard enforced by the Department of Agriculture. Forty-one counties in Florida impose restrictions designed to protect local waterways from pollution.

Committee Chairman Gary Siplin, D-Orlando, said the delay was due to “some concerns” of local governments. Proponents include the Florida Retail Federation and Associated Industries of Florida.

Rep. Clay Ingram, R-Pensacola, is sponsoring the House version.
