New app latest tactic for Immokalee Coalition
WINK – October 19, 2011
IMMOKALEE, Fla.- You’ve heard of the game Angry Birds.. but how about Angry Tomatoes?
Its the latest tactic for the Coalition of Immokalee Workers to spread their message of fair wages for farm workers.
The game allows you to choose a grocery store and a slogan and throw tomatoes at the cartoon building.
The application is free, developers say their goal is just to spread awareness of their cause.
“This app is a way for people to learn more about the campaign. It helps provide them a way to get involved and hopefully a way to get our grocers who we support with our money and otherwise to help support this movement for
fair food,” said Jordan Buckley with InterFaith Action
On Friday 12 Immokalee farm workers will be traveling to California to protest at the Trader Joe’s headquarters.
Trader Joe’s is expected to open in Naples by the end of the year.
